Replace Neck On Martin Acoustic |
This guitar was brought to me by Mike Duncan in Albuquerque, NM. It's a 1972 Martin D-18. The body had an amazing sound but the neck had some issues. Mike asked that I remove the neck on this Martin and make him an entirely new neck with an adjustable truss rod (the old neck had none) and an ebony fingerboard. Made a new neck from Sapelle and matched the new neck to match the body. He plans on keeping this guitar for life, so we're not trying to sell it or pass it off as an original Martin. Both Mike and I were seriously shocked by the sound improvement. Got rid of the thuddy, dead sound most of these old Martins have with much lower string action. |
